Not remotely, I would expect something more shovel-like if that were the case. Perhaps even a crane-type tool similar to construction vehicles.

Well, it's british, they have always had a bit "special" way of thinking during ww-II and around in every aspect of heavy assault guns design and construction.
Anyway, my second thought - field porridge frying pan, and this is a bit too much even for them, I guess.
